How much does it cost to get a car estimate at an auto body repair shop?

Do auto body shops usually charge for estimates of damages?
And how long do they usually take?

its free to get an estimate,, if they want a charge before they give you an estimate, walk away, try another bodyshop

some do some dont/ and some have a set fee and some charge 10% of the total// this is strictly shop around item

Most of the time estimates are free just ask before you have anyone look at it and depending on the damage it could take from 30 min to 1 hr.
